Pippa, you mentioned on Twitter, some time ago, about your familiarity and respect for the works of Carlos Castaneda. Same here; read and reread just about all of his publications over the years and found it all as fascinating as can be. In the book “ The Active Side of Infinity, there is a chapter titled “Mud Shadows”. The mud shadows, or flyers, as they were sometimes referred to, were described as non-human entities that attached themselves to humans, ( mostly male, if memory serves) and consumed the individual’s energy when produced by emotional reactions, outbursts, etc. The sorcerers also maintained that the flyer is the source of the thoughts; the thoughts that triggered said outbursts. Many in the spiritual community today, and throughout history, report interactions with these alien interferences, energy parasites, hobgoblins or what have you, that continue to plague many of us, and presumably unbeknownst to most of us. Do you have any direct experience with these phenomena? Or any advice whatsoever on how to deal with it?

My main advice is to keep deepening into realisation of Core Being (the Love that we are) through mindfulness, the breath, silence. nce with this phenomena - I think everyone has, whether they know it or not. Calling upon our highest holy name - for me that is Christ - is usually enough to ward off Lower Astral attack. But, if not, sustained realization of Love/Christ is the way forward. Are you having specific problems with this, may I ask?

I realize the topic is “Surrender”. Again, Castaneda wrote about it. He said surrender is appropriate but some people find the term off-putting as it may connote despair or futility or cowardly giving up at the first sign of trouble. He suggested “acquiescence”; as in Acquiescence to the Universe; (or Source or Spirit). He said the goal is to align one’s intent with the intent of the universe. When the ego-mind or mud shadow is dispatched, then the intent of the Spirit can freely flow through us and thereafter inform our actions. Don Juan said the only way he knew of to be rid of the mud shadow was to starve it of emotional energetic reaction by maintaining a calm, serene, aplomb as triggering thoughts arose. I think Buddhists and Zen masters refer to this as detachment. This sounds all well and good on paper. However in my own case, whenever l attempt to practice this on a daily basis, the annoying, intransigent ego-mind jumps right in and hijacks the process with a running background commentary such as: “ Forget it, Rich, you’re doomed!” Or, “ Sorry, but l’m not going anywhere!” Or “Quiet mind, my ass!” Or even just random , intrusive, distracting phrases. But anyway, l intend to continue to valiantly soldier on with the struggle. I’m not desperate or despairing whatsoever. I feel I’ve made considerable progress over the years. Just somewhat frustrated or aggravated now and again, particularly when l hear of others’ reports of Ascension or Enlightenment or attaining blissful Peace. For me it seems juuussst tantalizingly out of reach.So l’ll gladly give your book a go; hopefully it contains the prodding l could use at this point. Incidentally, Pippa, l found you on Twitter. Perhaps so close you can't see it. But you will, very soon, I am certain. It's about switching frequency from seeking frequency to receiving frequency.
