10 Meta-Money Truths
Earth-Realm Success Tips to Enhance Your Stay
TRUTH ONE
You can’t ‘make’ money because all the money in the world has already been made. You can only be a conduit for it.
“The only wisdom we can hope to acquire is the wisdom of humility.” - T.S. Eliot
So humble yourself. Let money flow through you. It’s not yours. You’re just using it for a while. You can’t own it — it’s only a tool you’re borrowing for a while. Let yourself receive it and then use it effectively.
TRUTH TWO
To be an effective conduit for money, you need a positive and negative charge, just like a battery.
“I ain’t afraid to love a man. I ain’t afraid to shoot him either.” ― Annie Oakley
I’m not advocating violence. But you can’t be all sweetness. You can’t be all mean.
You need to be hard and sweet both at the same time with a dash of grit for good measure.
TRUTH THREE
To be successful, you must ruthlessly capture your flighty butterfly brain in a net and pin it to a board.
“I learned that focus is key. Not just in your running a company, but in your personal life as well.” — Tim Cook
Stop your flitting. You’re driving yourself crazy.
You’re scampering around like a trapped bug because you’re avoiding the things you know you should be doing.
TRUTH FOUR
Lack confidence? Work harder! Competence creates confidence.
“It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things .”-Unknown.
Don’t use your lack of self-esteem as an excuse. Hate yourself? Feel full of fear? Sick of failing?
Whatever. No one cares. Do the work anyway.
TRUTH FIVE
No one cares how polished your ‘executive presence’ is or how slim you are or whether you look cool. In fact, they don’t care about you at all. They just want to know what you can do for them.
“If I make a fool of myself, who cares? I’m not frightened by anyone’s perception of me.” -Angelina Jolie
Give up caring what anyone thinks about you, and you get to keep all that extra energy for yourself and your projects.
To succeed, you have to provide a service people want. Seeming impressive to others doesn’t do a lot for anyone.
TRUTH SIX
Fame is shallow. Legacy is deep.
“No thing great is created suddenly, any more than a bunch of grapes or a fig.
If you tell me that you desire a fig, I answer you that there must be time.
Let it first blossom, then bear fruit, then ripen.” — Epictetus
Focus on the value you’re giving. Quit chasing the fly-by-night props. Stop going after the mirage. Focus on the dirt beneath your feet.
Go for what’s real and lasting.
TRUTH SEVEN
We pretend we don’t want what we really want because we are too afraid of not having it.
“Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness.”– Allen Ginsberg
What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? Do that. Think as big as you are. You’re not fooling anyone with your playing-small act.
Time to tell the truth about your actual desires for your life.
TRUTH EIGHT
Ambition doesn’t help us achieve anything. Only hard-work can do that.
“Without labor, nothing prospers.” ~ Sophocles
Ambition is a waste of energy. So is desire. So is yearning and longing and all that kind of moon-gazing, self-indulgent teenage stuff.
Just work a lot harder than you ever have before and stop indulging in your fantasies.
TRUTH NINE
When you focus on the ONE THING you know in your heart you could be great at, the results will be extraordinary.
“The person born with a talent they are meant to use will find their greatest happiness in using it.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
I’m not here to tell you what to do. You know where you could shine.
What was the first thing that flashed into your mind when you read the above? Before you covered it up with your fear? Yes, that thing. Do that.
You might not be truly competent at it yet because you haven’t worked hard enough. But you will be.
TRUTH TEN
Self-confidence is always conducive to success — it’s not so tough to bluff.
“A wise girl knows her limits, a smart girl knows that she has none.” - Marilyn Monroe
If you want to provide any form of service — share yourself with the world in any way — you have to stop protecting your self-image. Rip it up and throw it out the window like paper scattered to the wind.
All creativity is bluffing because when we create, we are leaping into the unknown. Think of life like bungie jumping. Be brave and let go of your firm ground.
You have to trust you’ll bounce before your head smacks into the solid surface, rushing at you at 100 pmh.
